SOMATIC COACHING FOR WOMEN

Create a relationship with uncertainty, discomfort, and change that expands what's possible in your life.

We work with the automatic responses that show up when you leave what's known or comfortable: over-adapting, going rigid, pulling back, avoiding, or moving from reactivity rather than intention.

You learned to do this a long time ago

Five situations, and how they're helping you

TYou have something to say, and before it comes out you run it through filters: whether it sounds too sharp, whether they'll think you're too much, whether someone will take it the wrong way, whether it'll change how they see you tomorrow. What comes out is the version that doesn't bother anyone. What stays with you is resentment — some of it toward them, most of it toward yourself.

You are always watching. If you say what you really mean, and someone doesn't like it, you feel there's no going back. What you're really checking, every time you speak, is whether you still belong.th

You hold on until your body starts to break down.

Being that worn out is what gives you permission. Depleted, the limit explains itself — it doesn't look like you asking for something. If you'd named it on day one, you'd have to stand it on the only thing underneath: you never wanted to do this.

It could be a proposal you didn't send, a role you didn't apply for, a rate you didn't raise, a conversation you didn't ask for.

Under the frustration, there's a big relief of staying where you are, because staying is the one thing you know how to do with certainty. Growing means a long stretch of not knowing whether you can pull it off, with people watching. And staying costs: the role went to someone else, you've been on the same salary for three years, and you're still in a job you don't want to be in anymore.

One more article, another conversation with a friend, one more reel from an expert.

As long as you're still looking into it, the decision isn't made. And that means that it can't be the wrong one yet. Every new thing you find calms you down for a moment, and that calm is what keeps the search from ever ending.

Their tone shifts, and before you've even thought about it you're already smoothing things over: explaining, softening, asking if everything's okay. From the outside it looks like you're doing it for them.

What actually ends the second you smooth it over is your own discomfort. It works so fast you've never had to learn anything else.

Every one of those responses solved something you needed: belonging, feeling safe, not looking bad, and it's still solving it. That's why they don't go away once you understand them. They've moved into how you breathe, how you move, what you do before you think.

How we work together

We begin by identifying what you want to be able to do differently, and in which specific situation you want to see that change.

That goal guides the whole process: we come back to it, watch how your body responds each time you practice, and go deeper into what shows up each time.

For example, let’s say you've been avoiding a conversation. We can bring that scenario with your imagination and notice what happens in your body and emotions: you might hold your breath, drop your voice, tighten your shoulders, want to pull away, smooth things over, take control, or leave the room.

Your body stops being the place where reaction takes over, and starts being a source of information, capacity, and choice.

Not everyone starts from the same place

Each person has a different relationship with their emotions and their body sensations. For some, it’s easier to connect with them; for others, it can be very overwhelming.

That’s why we start where you are; we follow what is possible for you and don’t push you beyond what is manageable.

Sometimes we might start directly with noticing sensations or finding where an emotion feels more present in your body. Other times, it will be easier to work with your emotions through movement, posture, and vocalization. And when getting in touch with your inner experience, we focus on the outside as a resource.

During each session, I will check with you which way feels available to work with the situation you bring. Then we’ll use that door to enter into the experience and practice.

Door 01

From the inside

We start by noticing a sensation, an emotion, your breath, tension, pressure, warmth, or a part of your body that feels disconnected.

DOOR 02

From movement

We explore how what you feel shifts when you change your posture, your gaze, your voice, or the way you take up space.

DOOR 03

From the outside

We use light, sound, color, distance, and the objects around you give your body information to orient itself.

WHAT CHANGE LOOKS LIKE

Change isn't measured by how much you've learned about yourself. It's measured by what you can do differently.

Three ways a session can shift what you thought was possible

When it’s hard to say your name out loud

She came wanting to express herself without constantly worrying about what others think.

We practiced saying her name out loud, but when I asked her to speak a little louder, she reached a point where she couldn’t get any louder.

That limit helped her see how much space she allowed herself to take up.

When you know what you want, and a part of you keeps cuestioning it

She wanted to speak about her work as an entrepreneur with more confidence. As we explored this together, an inner voice emerged that constantly questioned whether she had the right to want more out of life.

Using the space, she began to walk, giving form and expression to the version of herself who feels confident enough to show herself and act on her desires and ambitions.

Shortly afterward, she said, “From this version, I feel I can decide who enters my space and who doesn’t.”

When you've spent too long holding back what you want to say

There were things she no longer wanted to put up with, but she had a hard time expressing herself and ended up bottling it up until it came out as resentment or emotional reactivity.

We worked with the impulse of pushing against a wall; everything she wanted to remove from her life became clear. She was able to give physical and verbal expression to that anger.

And she learned a concrete way to recognize and express those impulses before reaching her limit.

THIS WORK IS FOR YOU IF

You no longer want to spend your energy worrying about how you look, how you sound, what people think, whether you're doing too much, or whether you made the right call.

You want that energy to be available again so you can create, love, work, rest, enjoy yourself, and make choices.

HELLO

My name is Laura Ortiz

Soy psicóloga y coach somática.

I have more than 10 years of experience in professional development, leadership, and supporting people through processes of change. Today, I support women who are questioning the way they have been living, working, or relating to others.

My own story has been marked by profound changes in identity, moving countries, and changing profession. These experiences have shaped a way of working that integrates both what we think and what we experience in our bodies.

What I love most about the work I do is being able to help a woman take a concrete step toward something she’s been wanting to change for a long time.

“I learned to pause, to listen to what I'm feeling, and to accept it with much less self-criticism. The practices we worked on are still tools I reach for in moments of doubt.“
